Important: Save Your Backup Codes

During this process, NDAX will provide you with backup codes. Save these in a secure location - you'll need them to access your account if your 2FA device is lost or unavailable.

Before You Begin

  • Have your smartphone or tablet ready
  • Be logged into your NDAX account
  • Have a secure place to store backup codes

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Download an Authenticator App

First, you'll need to install an authenticator app on your smartphone. We recommend Google Authenticator, but Authy and Microsoft Authenticator also work.

2

Navigate to Security Settings

In your NDAX account, go to your profile settings and look for the Security or Two-Factor Authentication section.

Path: Account Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication

3

Choose 2FA Method

Select 'Authenticator App' as your preferred 2FA method. This is more secure than SMS and works even without internet connection.

NDAX will display a QR code for the next step
4

Scan the QR Code

Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code displayed on your NDAX security settings page.

In Google Authenticator: Tap the '+' button → 'Scan a QR code' → Point your camera at the code

Tip: If you can't scan the QR code, look for a 'Manual entry' option and enter the secret key provided.

5

Enter Verification Code

Your authenticator app will now display a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Enter this code in the verification field on NDAX.

Make sure to enter the code before it expires (30-second timer)
6

Save Backup Codes

NDAX will provide you with backup codes. Save these codes in a secure location - you'll need them if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Important: Store these codes in a password manager, secure note app, or print them and keep them in a safe place.

Each backup code can only be used once. If you use all your codes, you can generate new ones from your security settings.

Test Your Setup

Before finishing, test your 2FA setup by logging out and logging back in. You should be prompted to enter a code from your authenticator app after entering your password.

Your account is now protected with two-factor authentication!
